Meghan Markle’s new Netflix series, With Love, Meghan, dropped its special Christmas episode on December 3rd, and it features one of the sweetest husband-and-wife moments yet.
In the festive installment, the Duchess of Sussex attempts to recreate her mother Doria Ragland’s legendary Christmas Eve gumbo—a cherished family tradition passed down through generations.
While cooking alongside Top Chef judge Tom Colicchio, Meghan explains: “It’s a once-a-year thing that she does, so we’re going to make some gumbo.”
Mid-filming, Prince Harry makes a surprise appearance, greeting his wife with a kiss before catching a whiff of the simmering pot.
“You must have known I was coming,” he jokes. “Gumbo is one of my favourites—especially her mum’s. But before the fish goes in…”

After taking a taste of the spicier version being made on camera, Harry dramatically exclaims: “I can feel it puncturing through the top of my head!”
Then, in a moment of loving honesty, he turns to Meghan and says: “I’m not so sure it’s as good as your mum’s, but it’s certainly close.”
Meghan’s reaction is priceless. Visibly stunned, she gasps: “What?! Oh my gosh. Well, my mom will love you for that. You know what? What a good thing to say for your mother-in-law.”
The sweet exchange highlights Harry’s well-known affection for Doria Ragland. Insiders have long described the Duke as genuinely adoring his mother-in-law, finding her calm presence “refreshing” and openly appreciating the way she “mothers” him.

Doria is also a doting grandmother to the couple’s children, six-year-old Prince Archie and four-year-old Princess Lilibet.
The heartwarming scene has already melted viewers’ hearts—just in time for Christmas.
