Following a suspected assassination scare and a very visible clash involving Jimmy Kimmel, attention has once again turned to the White House. This time, the focus is a major state visit.

Tensions in Washington have been high after a gunman reportedly tried to breach security during the White House Correspondents’ Dinner on Saturday. Early reports suggest the individual may have been targeting figures within the administration, including Donald Trump himself.

Despite that incident, Trump chose not to cancel his meeting with King Charles III and Queen Camilla. The visit is being viewed as a key moment in Charles’ reign, especially given the current strain between the UK and the US.

Trump has previously taken aim at Keir Starmer, criticizing his stance on Iran and saying he was “not Winston Churchill,” while also calling the UK’s position “terrible.”

The royal couple are scheduled to spend four days in the United States, beginning with a tea meeting at the White House alongside Trump and Melania Trump. They were formally welcomed on the South Lawn in front of cameras.

During their initial appearance, Trump and King Charles exchanged a few casual remarks while posing for photos. However, according to lip reader Nicola Hickling, the tone quickly shifted.

She claims Trump brought up the recent incident, saying, “This shooting…”

Charles reportedly responded that he would rather not remain outside too long and suggested he felt uneasy about the situation.

Trump is said to have acknowledged the seriousness of it, adding that he hadn’t been prepared before but now felt ready.

The conversation then reportedly moved to global tensions. Trump allegedly mentioned the Russian leader, saying, “He wants war.” Charles is said to have replied that they could discuss the matter later, attempting to steer the exchange away from such heavy topics.

Trump, however, continued, suggesting that if events unfolded as feared, the consequences could be catastrophic. Once again, Charles tried to redirect the conversation, repeating that it was something for another time.

Eventually, the mood lightened. Trump shifted the discussion to the White House itself, pointing out plans for a new ballroom and offering to show it.

Charles responded politely, saying he was sure they would see it soon, bringing the exchange back to a more formal and neutral tone.
