“We come here every couple of weeks and we’re going to have to find somewhere else now for my dog to get the miles in. But I completely understand the safety of William, Kate and their family is paramount,” one resident told The Sun.

Another added, “We love the royals… It’s exciting they are moving to Forest Lodge. It’s clear this car park closure is not coming from them personally, but from security concerns.”

The Wales Family Call the Move “Challenging”

Prince William and Princess Catherine recently opened up about their transition to Forest Lodge, sharing that the process has been far from simple.

“The house move has been rather challenging with elements of twists, but we’re tackling it,” William told German President Frank-Walter Steinmeier and his wife Elke Büdenbender, according to a lip reader cited by People.

Catherine also revealed that she and the children have been “putting mood boards together” ahead of planned renovations.

The Waleses hold a 20-year lease on Forest Lodge. They have paid privately for the moving process, as well as the initial renovations, and will be paying full market rent—unlike other royals who occupy Crown Estate homes at peppercorn rents, such as Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor at Royal Lodge.
