Although Harry reunited briefly with King Charles in September, Markle is said to remain cautious about the royal family’s true motives, a hesitation that is reportedly mirrored by the royals themselves.
Now, however, a source claims Kate Middleton may be ready to bring an end to the prolonged feud by seeking common ground with Markle and reopening lines of communication.
Kate’s Alleged Desire for Peace
Addressing the strained dynamic between the Princess of Wales and the Duchess of Sussex, the source said that while the two women have exchanged polite greetings, they are not on speaking terms and have not shared any meaningful conversations. Speaking to Star magazine, the insider claimed Middleton wants 2026 to mark a fresh start and a year of peace across all aspects of her life.
“And if that’s going to happen within her own extended family, she’s [Middleton] accepted she needs to reach out and wave the white flag,” the source said.
According to the insider, Kate believes that repairing her own relationship with Meghan could create a path toward reconciliation between Prince William and Prince Harry.
A Possible Step Toward Reconciliation
The source continued: “Kate does feel that William and Harry’s chances of making up would be a lot greater if she and Meghan were able to find some common ground. She does not want to drag this cold war… Maybe a phone call ahead of Christmas could be arranged to at least open the door towards some sort of forgiveness.”
Often described as the royal family’s peacemaker, Kate has reportedly made previous attempts to encourage forgiveness toward the Sussexes.
Meghan Reportedly Less Willing to Reconnect
Despite Kate’s alleged efforts, the Duchess of Sussex is said to be far less inclined to rebuild ties with the royal family. Previously, royal expert Tom Quinn told The Mirror: “Harry would like a reconciliation, but supports his wife completely, and until she feels that the royal family have been sufficiently nice to her, and grovelingly apologized for the past, it’s not going to happen.”
Meanwhile, sources have also claimed that Kate is worried Prince Harry may once again risk deepening the divide with his family following his September meeting with King Charles. Speaking to OK! magazine, insiders said: “Kate has been working quietly to calm things down, and she’s hoping Harry will come home for her favorite time of year, Christmas.”
William’s Patience Wearing Thin
Kate is reportedly also concerned that Prince William’s patience has been “thinned to the bone” after years of public criticism from Harry and Meghan toward the Firm, complicating her attempts to play mediator.
A friend of the Princess stressed: “She wants Harry – and particularly his children – to remain part of the family circle. She does not want to be seen as a homewrecker, but there is no love lost between her and Meghan, and Kate is reminding him that he doesn’t need to walk away from where he comes from.”
