On Dec. 25, the 10-year-old princess paused to take a selfie with well-wishers after the royal family attended the Morning Service at the Church of St. Mary Magdalene on the Sandringham Estate. A short video shared on TikTok captured the moment.

In the clip, Charlotte is seen shaking hands, wishing people “Merry Christmas,” and happily agreeing to pose for photos.

A Polite Yes — and a Royal Selfie

“Can we have a photo with you?” one well-wisher asked.

“Yes,” Charlotte replied, stepping closer so they could fit into the frame.

“Are you allowed to take it or are you not allowed?” the person then asked, jokingly referencing royal protocol. The moment ended with a cheerful group selfie featuring the young princess.

In recent years, the British royal family has eased its stance on selfies, occasionally posing for photos when members of the public ask. In December 2024, Princess Charlotte delighted fans by embracing the trend, smiling for a selfie during the Sandringham Christmas walkabout and signaling a new generation’s approach to royal engagements.

Prince William Calls Her Along

Charlotte’s Christmas photo moment didn’t end there. As she continued greeting people, her father gently urged her to catch up.

A video shared by Hello! magazine showed Charlotte stopping for several photos while Prince William, 43, walked ahead with Prince George, 12, and Prince Louis, 7.

“Charlotte,” the Prince of Wales called out.

“I’m coming,” she replied with a smile, taking time for one more snapshot before moving on.

Following in Her Mother’s Footsteps

Charlotte’s warm interaction with the crowd echoed the approach of her mother, Princess Kate, who is known for lingering to greet well-wishers.

After the Christmas service at St. Mary Magdalene in Norfolk, royal reporter Rebecca English of the Daily Mail noted that the Princess of Wales “lagged behind on the way out, shaking as many hands as possible.”

A similar scene played out during the Sandringham Christmas outing in December 2024. Princess Kate, 43, fell well behind Prince William and their three children as she chatted with members of the public who had gathered to see the family.

Realizing her husband and children were far ahead, the royal mom joked to the crowd, “I seem to have lost my family!”

The lighthearted moment, much like Charlotte’s polite pause for photos, offered another glimpse into the warmth and approachability the royal family brings to their Christmas traditions.
