His exit comes just weeks after the Duke and Duchess of Sussex revealed that the Archewell Foundation would be rebranded as Archewell Philanthropies.

Holt, who first worked with Prince Harry during his time at Kensington Palace and later relocated to Los Angeles with the couple following their decision to step back from royal duties in 2020, confirmed his departure in a statement released on Monday.

“Working alongside Prince Harry and Meghan has been one of the greatest honors of my career,” Holt said. He reflected on his journey from collaborating with Harry eight years ago on initiatives to improve mental health support for British soldiers, to more recent efforts aiding injured children in Gaza. Throughout, he noted, Harry continually pushed him to think more boldly about creating meaningful impact.

Holt also shared his admiration for Meghan, recalling that from their first meeting, he saw in her a kindred spirit—someone who remains joyful even in challenging circumstances and connects genuinely with people from all walks of life.

He added that the work they did together supporting families affected by online harm would remain the most significant chapter of his professional life. “These families are remarkable, and they inspire me every day,” he said.

After five years in Los Angeles, Holt explained that it is now time for his family to return to London. As he prepares to hand over leadership responsibilities at Archewell Philanthropies in the coming months, he said he does so with pride and optimism about the organization’s future.

“I’ll deeply miss my colleagues,” Holt concluded, expressing gratitude to Harry and Meghan for their support and for the many people they worked together to help.

In response, the Sussexes praised Holt as a “remarkable source of support for nearly a decade.” They highlighted his passion and skill in leading their philanthropic efforts and confirmed that, despite his move back to the UK, he will continue working with them. A spokesperson clarified that Holt will remain a senior philanthropic advisor to the couple and Archewell Philanthropies, and will assist with overseas humanitarian trips planned for 2026.

Archewell Philanthropies now serves as the umbrella for Harry and Meghan’s charitable initiatives. Explaining the name change on their website, the couple shared that after five years, the foundation’s evolution reflects their desire to expand their global humanitarian work as a family, alongside their children.

Harry and Meghan originally launched their nonprofit organization in April 2020, shortly after completing their final royal engagements and settling in Los Angeles.
