Meghan Markle is said to have sought explanations from King Charles about restrictions she faced while she was a working royal. Reports suggest she attempted to contact him privately to understand why she was prevented from undertaking certain activities that appeared to be permitted for other members of the Royal Family. Since stepping back from royal duties in 2020, Meghan has faced criticism for speaking openly about her experiences within the monarchy.
However, it has been claimed that she initially tried to address her concerns privately. According to reports, Meghan wrote a letter to her father-in-law outlining her frustrations, particularly what she viewed as inconsistent rules applied to her compared with other royals. Royal commentator Neil Sean previously stated on his YouTube channel that Meghan was seeking clear answers from the King. He claimed she requested a one-on-one meeting and sent a letter explaining the difficulties she had encountered since joining the Royal Family.

Sean further alleged that Meghan believed she was treated differently from other extended family members, including Sarah Ferguson. He pointed to Ferguson’s regular media appearances on programmes such as This Morning and Loose Women, where she uses her Duchess of York title while promoting books and potentially endorsements. According to Sean, Meghan and Prince Harry reportedly questioned why such activities were allowed for others but not for her.

Now five years removed from royal life, Meghan and Harry live in California with their children, Prince Archie, aged six, and Princess Lilibet, aged four. The couple have spent their seventh Christmas away from the Royal Family, with six of those celebrations taking place in the United States. They are also reportedly ringing in the New Year while on holiday with friends.
