It has been almost five years since Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s headline-making sit-down with Oprah. Now, the couple have appeared at an event hosted by Winfrey once again, this time in support of a cause they have long championed.
Supporting a Message Close to Their Hearts
Harry and Meghan took part in a book launch organized by Oprah Daily, formerly known as O, The Oprah Magazine.
The event celebrated the release of An Amazing Generation by Catherine Price, a book that encourages children and teenagers to reconnect with life away from screens and reduce reliance on digital devices.
The Duke and Duchess, aged 41 and 44 respectively, joined the launch via Zoom, where they emphasized the importance of the book’s warning about the risks of a “phone-based childhood.”
Harry addressed how digital environments can “deeply affect” society’s “mental, emotional and physical health,” and praised the author for highlighting the impact of social media on young people.
“A huge congratulations to you and the outcome of your research which has created a parent-led movement,” Harry said.
Meghan echoed his remarks, adding that they were “proud to be a part of” the positive momentum surrounding the book’s message.

Advocacy Against Online Harms
Harry went on to explain that the insights shared in the book have been central to his work with parents who have lost their children “to online harms.”
The Sussexes have consistently spoken out about limiting children’s time on smartphones and tablets, particularly in light of growing concerns about the effects of excessive screen use on mental health.
In 2024, they launched The Parents’ Network through their Archewell Foundation, now known as Archewell Philanthropies. The initiative offers support to families whose children have been negatively affected by social media.
Meghan’s Personal Reflections on Mental Health
That same year, Meghan spoke with CBS about the campaign, while also reflecting on her own struggles with mental health and past suicidal thoughts.
“You know, I haven’t really scraped the surface on my experience, but I do think that I would never want someone else to feel that way and I would never want someone else to be making those sort of plans, and I would never want someone else to not be believed,” she said.
“So, if me voicing what I have overcome will save someone, or encourage someone in their life to really genuinely check in on them and not assume that the appearance is good, so everything’s okay, then that’s worth it. I’ll take a hit for that.”
She added, “When you’ve been through any level of pain or trauma, I believe part of our healing journey — certainly part of mine — is being able to be really open about it.”

Looking Back at the 2021 Oprah Interview
The renewed collaboration comes years after Harry and Meghan’s 2021 television interview with Oprah Winfrey, during which Meghan first spoke publicly about contemplating taking her own life.
“I just didn’t want to be alive anymore,” she told Winfrey at the time.
“I was really ashamed to say it at the time, and ashamed to have to admit it to Harry especially because I know how much loss he’s suffered,” she said.
“But I knew that if I didn’t say, that I would do it and I just d!dn’t want to be al!ve anym0re.”
