Fresh rumours are swirling around Meghan Markle and Prince Harry as a royal expert warns the couple may be facing a “huge test” amid what he describes as increasingly divided priorities.
The Duke and Duchess of Sussex have once again found themselves at the centre of split speculation after Prince Harry travelled overseas without Meghan just days before Christmas. While Harry enjoyed a boys-only ski trip in Aspen, Colorado, Meghan stayed behind in California with their two children—fueling headlines suggesting cracks in their marriage.
According to royal commentator Richard Fitzwilliams, the issue isn’t a lack of love, but a growing disconnect in what each of them wants next.
“They appear to have deeply divided priorities and needs at the moment,” he said, explaining that Harry is eager to rebuild ties with the UK and repair his relationship with King Charles, while Meghan is firmly focused on her business ventures and life in the US.

The timing has only intensified speculation. A Home Office review into whether Harry’s state-funded UK security could be reinstated is reportedly nearing completion—and is widely expected to go in his favour. If so, it could reopen the door for more UK visits, something Meghan is believed to be far less enthusiastic about.
“I can’t see how Harry fits into Meghan’s lifestyle brand world,” Fitzwilliams added. “And Meghan has no affection for Britain. That difference is impossible to ignore.”
While Harry was photographed hitting the slopes and leading a snow polo team alongside close friend Nacho Figueras, Meghan showed public support by sharing a photo of him on Instagram—yet the move did little to stop rumours of “tensions” behind the scenes.
Sources say Harry is frustrated by the constant divorce chatter, having addressed similar rumours many times before. He once joked that reports had claimed he and Meghan had divorced “10 or 12 times already,” admitting it became impossible to keep track.

Still, Fitzwilliams believes the biggest challenge lies ahead if the Sussexes attempt a joint return to the UK—particularly given Meghan’s low popularity ratings with the British public.
“If Harry wants to bring his children to a country Meghan doesn’t want to appear in, that will only deepen the strain,” he warned. “Her return could be a complete catastrophe, depending on how it’s handled.”
Despite the noise, the expert insists the couple remain emotionally committed. However, he adds that the UK question could become a defining moment for their marriage.
“It would take an earthquake of an event for them to divorce,” he said. “But there’s no doubt this would be one of the biggest tests they’ve faced yet.”
