Longtime royal rule-breakers

The couple, who married in 2018, have long been seen as unconventional when it comes to their very public relationship.

From the moment it emerged that Harry, 41, was set to marry a previously divorced woman, the tabloids went into overdrive. Matters only escalated when the pair later stepped back from royal duties, citing what they described as mistreatment from senior members of the monarchy.

That decision marked a dramatic break from tradition, especially as it was followed by Meghan, Harry, and their now six-year-old son, Prince Archie, leaving the UK for a new life in Montecito, California. There, they later welcomed their daughter, Lilibet, now four.

Life beyond royal protocol

Since distancing themselves from royal life, the Sussexes have embraced a far more open presence online. Meghan regularly shares warm, lifestyle-focused posts and glimpses of family life on social media.

And it appears the couple have no intention of dialing that back. This week, Meghan uploaded a video to her Instagram stories that caught plenty of attention — particularly a moment where Harry’s hands appear to wander playfully over his wife’s backside.

The compilation video, shared on Friday (16 Jan), was filmed by their daughter and includes a clip of the couple dancing together on the lawn of their California home.

At one point, as Harry reaches for Meghan, he seemingly forgets the camera is rolling and cheekily grabs the Duchess’ behind.

Sweet family moments — and one eyebrow-raiser

Other clips in the video show Archie admiring a rhino at a local zoo, Meghan, 44, interacting with a nearby giraffe, and a brightly colored shopping list that appears to have been written by Lilibet.

The intimate moment quickly sparked mixed reactions online. Still, many viewers praised the Sussexes for showing a more relaxed, relatable side of married life.

One Reddit user wrote: “Harry is a menace, Lilibet voice, Doria singing, Lilibet veggies shopping list, amazing. I love rota and royalist are going crash hard.”

Another commented: “Aww Lili and her Grandma in the pool living their best lives. Her parents dancing and her dad getting carried away. And Archie (and his gorgeous head of Auburn hair) feeding the rhino. Adorable little family.”

A third added: “I love how he was so in the moment and tried to grab her butt and she had to grab his hand.”

“Reminds me of my parents dancing in the kitchen. My Dad would always grab my Mom’s butt like that,” another user shared.

A nostalgic follow-up

Later on Friday, Meghan posted a black-and-white version of the same intimate clip, followed by a third video showing her and Harry embracing in a pond. The footage is believed to date back to their trip to Botswana — their first holiday together a decade ago.

Harry famously convinced Meghan to join him on that trip just weeks after they met on a blind date.

The videos were shared as part of a nod to a viral 2016 trend, with Meghan captioning the post: “When 2026 feels just like 2016….you had to be there.”
