Much of the chatter appears to have stemmed from the way the meeting ended rather suddenly, along with what some described as uneasy expressions on the faces of people standing behind him. The swift ushering of reporters out of the room only fuelled the whispers further.

The footage was captured during a White House press conference on 29 January, where the Republican leader signed an executive order focused on addiction recovery initiatives.

In the video, Trump appears to cut the session short and motions for members of the press to exit. After the clip gained traction, social media users flooded platforms with reactions, with many insisting — without evidence — that he had experienced an embarrassing mishap. Some even claimed they heard him “sh*rt,” arguing that this explained the hurried departure.

White House spokesman Steven Cheung addressed the rumours directly, stating that the claims circulating online were simply “not true”.

Fact-checking outlet Snopes examined the footage and reported that the video itself was “authentic and showed no signs of digital manipulation or content generated by artificial intelligence”.

However, Snopes also made clear that “there was no evidence to support the claim that Trump pooped himself during the meeting”.

In short, while the internet may have enjoyed the speculation, there is nothing to substantiate it. Mystery resolved.
