A question everyone wanted answered

The Prince of Wales, 43, is currently on a three-day trip to Saudi Arabia, undertaken at the request of the UK government to strengthen diplomatic ties.

On Tuesday, William visited MISK Sports City in Riyadh, where he met a group of young female footballers. While the visit focused on sport and youth development, it quickly took a more personal turn.

After posing for a group photo, one of the girls asked the prince a simple but charming question.

“Did Princess Kate come with you?”

William smiled as he explained that his wife had not joined him on this trip. The answer prompted an audible wave of disappointment from the group.

“Oh!” The exchange immediately delighted royal watchers.

‘They would love it here’

The conversation did not end there. The girls encouraged William to bring his family to Saudi Arabia, clearly eager to welcome the Princess of Wales and the royal children.

William responded warmly.

“They would love it here,” he said.

He then joked about his own children’s passion for football.

“My children love football, but you guys are another level.”

The prince continued with a playful remark that drew laughter.

“I can see you guys will be at the World Cup very soon, and then you’re going to make me feel very old.”

Footage of the interaction quickly spread online, with many fans noting how often Kate’s name arises during William’s public appearances.

“A reminder that wherever he goes, the Princess of Wales is never far from people’s hearts,” one royal fan commented.

A more serious interruption

While the Riyadh visit produced a lighthearted viral moment, not every interaction during the trip carried the same tone.

As William arrived at the sports centre, reporters attempted to question him about the ongoing controversy surrounding his uncle, Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor.

Andrew remains under scrutiny over his past association with Jeffrey Epstein. He has consistently denied all allegations of wrongdoing.

During William’s walkabout, one reporter called out:

“Sir, to what extent do you think the royal family has done enough around the Andrew and Epstein issue?”

William did not respond, and it was unclear whether he heard the question.

The Waleses address the situation

Earlier this week, a spokesperson for William and Kate issued a statement reflecting the couple’s position.

“The Prince and Princess of Wales have been deeply concerned by the continuing revelations. Their thoughts remain focused on the victims.”

Buckingham Palace also reiterated the King’s stance on the matter, emphasising sympathy for those affected and noting that any specific claims remain for Andrew to address.

Despite the occasional tension, William’s visit largely centred on diplomacy, youth engagement, and community initiatives, with moments like his exchange with the young footballers offering a glimpse of the lighter side of royal duties.

And if the reaction in Riyadh is anything to go by, Princess Kate continues to be a presence even when she is not physically there.
