King Charles is said to be facing another difficult period, as reports suggest both personal and professional pressures have mounted in recent weeks. While his family life has reportedly been strained, attention has now shifted to developments within one of his most significant charitable ventures, The King’s Foundation.
On Thursday evening, it was confirmed that Kristina Murrin CBE, Chief Executive Officer of the King’s flagship charity, has stepped down from her role after less than three years in the position. Murrin, a former senior civil servant who previously worked at 10 Downing Street, had been appointed to lead the organisation during a period of growth and modernisation.
Her departure follows closely behind the recent premiere of the Amazon Prime documentary Finding Harmony: A King’s Vision, which highlights the monarch’s long-standing environmental and architectural initiatives. It also comes just weeks after Dame Ann Limb stepped away from her role as Chair of the Foundation, raising concerns about leadership stability at the top of the organisation.
According to The Sunday Times journalist Gabriel Pogrund, the developments have left the King “profoundly unhappy,” with sources suggesting that the leadership changes have created a sense of instability within the charity.
In the interim, Emily Cherrington, Deputy CEO of The King’s Foundation, has agreed to lead the organisation while the board undertakes the process of appointing a permanent successor.

In a formal statement, The King’s Foundation expressed gratitude for Murrin’s contributions, noting that she had guided the charity through a period of significant expansion.
“Kristina leaves with the sincere thanks and best wishes of the board and the wider leadership of The King’s Foundation, having led the charity through an exciting period of expansion,” the statement read.
It confirmed that recruitment for a new CEO is underway, with Cherrington stepping in at the board’s request to ensure continuity.
Michael Jary CBE, Acting Chair of the Board of Trustees, praised Murrin’s tenure, highlighting her leadership during a particularly active chapter for the organisation. He noted her role in expanding the Foundation internationally, including developments in Australia, launching its Awards programme, and overseeing a broader repositioning and rebranding effort.
He also credited her with supervising the production of Finding Harmony: A King’s Vision, which premiered at Windsor Castle last month and formed part of the charity’s 35th anniversary celebrations. According to Jary, her leadership helped elevate the Foundation’s global profile and engage new supporters and ambassadors.
The statement concluded by saying she leaves the organisation in a strong position and wishing her success in future projects.
