According to reports, some of the messages were sent just months after Epstein was released from jail in 2009, following a 13-month sentence in Florida for soliciting prostitution from a minor. The case, which resulted in a controversial plea deal, allowed Epstein to avoid more serious federal charges at the time.
Alleged messages following Epstein’s release

Among the communications cited in recent reports is an email said to have been sent in January 2010, while Epstein was under house arrest. In it, Andrew allegedly congratulated Epstein on having his travel restrictions lifted and expressed hope that the matter would reach what he described as a “clean resolution.”
Epstein’s plea agreement had enabled him to serve a reduced sentence despite accusations that he paid underage girls for sexual acts, including at least one victim who was reportedly 14 years old. Years later, in 2019, he was federally charged with sex trafficking minors. He died in custody in August of that year.
Additional reports claim that hundreds of emails between the two men were exchanged, including messages sent after Epstein completed his period of house arrest in July 2010. Some correspondence allegedly referenced paying “homage” to a “new life ahead,” language that has drawn criticism from commentators and former officials.
Criticism and renewed controversy
The alleged tone of the emails has been described by some observers as insensitive, particularly toward victims. Former head of royal protection Dai Davies told The Sun that such remarks appeared dismissive of those affected by Epstein’s crimes and questioned Andrew’s judgment.
Prince Andrew has long faced criticism for maintaining contact with Epstein after his 2008 conviction. In a widely viewed 2019 Newsnight interview, Andrew stated that his 2010 visit to New York, during which he was photographed walking with Epstein, was intended to end their association. He later acknowledged that staying with Epstein at the time had been “unbecoming.”
Investigation and arrest

The latest disclosures come amid renewed attention surrounding documents connected to Epstein’s case. Following the release of additional files, Andrew has faced further public scrutiny, including allegations that he shared sensitive material with Epstein during his tenure as a UK trade envoy.
It is important to note that being mentioned in documents related to Epstein does not in itself establish wrongdoing. Andrew has consistently denied any unlawful conduct in connection with Epstein.
Earlier this year, Andrew was arrested on suspicion of misconduct in public office. The arrest took place on February 19 and involved a man in his sixties from Norfolk, according to police statements. He was released under investigation after approximately eleven hours.
The Metropolitan Police confirmed that searches were conducted at properties associated with Andrew, including Royal Lodge in Windsor and Wood Farm in Sandringham. Authorities stated that the searches have concluded and that the investigation remains ongoing.
Representatives for Prince Andrew and Buckingham Palace have been approached for comment regarding the latest reports.
