After stepping away from the entertainment industry for nearly a decade, Meghan Markle is officially making her return to acting. The Duchess of Sussex, who left her career in 2017 following her engagement to Prince Harry, is now easing back into Hollywood with a new project that has already drawn significant attention.

Before her royal life, Meghan was best known for her role as Rachel Zane in the TV series Suits. She also appeared in films such as Get Him to the Greek, Horrible Bosses, and the series 90210.

Following her marriage in 2018, she became a senior working royal, a position she stepped away from in 2020. Since then, Meghan has focused on humanitarian work, media production, and business ventures alongside Harry.

A Subtle Return to the Screen

In 2025, Meghan began work on a new comedy-drama film titled Close Personal Friends. According to early reports, her role is expected to be a cameo, marking a cautious but meaningful return to acting.

Filming took place in Pasadena, California, where insiders described her as relaxed, friendly, and enthusiastic about being back on set. One source noted that the project represents a “significant moment,” allowing her to reconnect with a career she once deeply enjoyed.

The film features an ensemble cast including Jack Quaid, Brie Larson, Henry Golding, and Lily Collins.

Speaking to the press, Jack Quaid described the experience of working on the project as “insane,” highlighting the energy and chemistry among the cast.

He explained that while the film initially seemed like a traditional romantic comedy, it leans more heavily into humor. The story centers on two couples, including a celebrity pair, who form an unexpected friendship during a trip to Santa Barbara.

Life Beyond Acting

Since relocating to California, Meghan has remained active outside of Hollywood. She launched a lifestyle brand called As Ever and starred in the Netflix docuseries With Love, Meghan, offering a glimpse into her personal life and social circle.

Together, Meghan and Harry also continue their philanthropic and media work through their organization Archewell.

Close Personal Friends is being produced by Amazon MGM Studios and directed by Jason Orley. While an official release date has not yet been announced, anticipation is already building around the project.

For Meghan, this return does not appear to be a full comeback, but rather a thoughtful step back into an industry she once called home.
