A few minutes after I hung up the phone, the police arrived.
To my surprise, Gerald stopped the police downstairs.
He said to the police fawningly, "Sorry. My girlfriend made the call. We were having a fight, and she called you out of anger. I'm so sorry for wasting your time.
"I'll talk to her. You may leave."
I seriously thought he was a retard.
