Celeste tried to act tough. "Fine, let's go to trial. My son's money is his to spend however he wants."
With Celeste backing her, Ruby got cocky too.
Ignorance truly was bliss.
Marley was all business in the courtroom. He laid out evidence showing that since graduating, Ruby hadn't worked a day. The house, the designer bags, and all her expenses were funded by Henry, making them marital property. She needed to compensate me.
Ruby disagreed. "All that money was earned by Henry. Sofia is just a housewife. She doesn't work, so that money shouldn't count as marital property. I shouldn't have to compensate her."
The judge shook his head at her words.
In the end, the court ruled that Ruby not only had to move out of the house she was living in but also had to compensate me over a million dollars.
Ruby and Celeste were stunned. They couldn't understand why money earned by Henry had to be paid to me. Celeste started causing a scene right there. "I'm going to appeal. This ruling is wrong."
The judge gave Celeste a look that said it all. There was no arguing with foolishness.
