Nature’s Nutritional Gifts
In nature, we find a wide variety of foods that can be incredibly nourishing for our health, yet many of them are not part of our diet simply because we are unaware of the many benefits they can offer.
You should know that most fruits and vegetables that come from nature—and even certain plants—can help nourish us in a very simple way and do so effectively.
Nopal: A Plant Worth Including
Nopal is one of those plants that not many people consume, but that should undoubtedly be included in the daily diet if you want to benefit from its many advantages, which are among the best you can find.
In this post, we’ll talk about nopal so you can learn more about it and begin to consider it a star food in your everyday diet. Don’t overlook this information—it can be very helpful.

Delicious and Highly Nutritious
Nopal is consumed by many people, but ideally, everyone should eat it—not only because it has a great flavor, but also because it is packed with nutrients, as we mentioned earlier.
Because it is so nutritious, the ideal approach is for people like us to include it in our daily diet. That way, we can truly nourish ourselves instead of simply eating, as often happens today when we rely mainly on processed foods.
A Sustainable Food for the Future
Poor nutrition can lead us toward a food crisis, something that climate change is already contributing to. However, this can be prevented with nopal, one of the most sustainable foods available.
According to the United Nations, in Mexico people consume about 6.4 kilograms of nopal per person each year. In other countries, however, this food is not common. That is precisely why, since 2017, the FAO has been seeking ways to encourage people in other countries—and in very dry communities—to grow this cactus. It requires very little water, and there is a possibility that it could become scarce in the future.

Recognized by Global Organizations
The cultivation of this cactus is not only recommended by the FAO, but also by the World Wide Fund for Nature (WWF), which, together with Knorr, created a list of the 50 Foods of the Future—foods with a low environmental impact.
