Goodbye Love, Welcome the New Me!Chapter 1
My whole family was suddenly diagnosed with myeloid leukemia, which put us all in critical condition, and there was no medicine available.
Jason Finley, my fiance, was the only one who had access to imported drugs.
I thought it was a good thing for us, but I didn't expect that while I was waiting for the life-saving drug, something urgent stopped Jason from meeting me.
I stood at the door of the intensive care unit, completely lost.
Thirteen bodies were sent to the morgue that night.
My parents' situation got worse. I had no choice but to call Jason about the drug. It was his childhood sweetheart who answered me,
"Jason is in the pet hospital. Is there anything wrong?"
I couldn't help but ask,
"I thought he was bringing over the drug. What's he doing there?"
Jason's voice came from the other end of the phone,
"I forgot about that. I'll ask my assistant to bring it over."
But it was too late.
I lost all my family members that night.
"The patients are in a dire situation. Didn't you say two hours ago that the imported drug would be delivered soon? Why hasn't it arrived yet?"
The attending doctor's initially anxious face was tinged with a hint of woe.
"Without that drug, there is nothing we can do."
He was telling the truth.
Without that drug, the patients would really die.
There were already thirteen bodies lying in the morgue.
They were my aunts and uncles.
Next, it would be my parents and my siblings.
I was immersed in sorrow, but my dull eyes suddenly became clear. I nodded desperately.
"Okay, okay. The drug will be here soon, very soon!"
Would the drug really be delivered?
I had no idea.
The sole channel manager for imported drugs was my fiancé, Jason.
He was supposed to arrive at the hospital two hours ago but didn't show up.
I couldn't reach Jason on the phone, so I called his assistant.
But I was told that Jason had something urgent to do and couldn't come. He had the drug I needed with him, but no one knew where he was.
So, I called Jason frantically, but no one answered.
Just like that, thirteen families of mine tragically died amid the sharp noises of the hospital machines.
The sad thing was the drug was already in Ashton...
But I didn't have time to be upset because my parents were still in danger.
I held the phone tightly and called Jason over and over again, wishing I could fly to him somehow.
But he still didn't take my calls.
