Fred gritted his teeth and clenched his fists. He shook his head raised his hand and pointed at me then moved his hand to Megan. "No, I wan't. It was her."
Megan was my friend at the college. She was stunningly beautiful and had a gentle nature. After she knew I was marrying a rich man after graduation, she often visited my house.
Last night, after we drank some beer, she claimed that she had drunk too much and was too intoxicated to drive home. She even insisted that Fred to drive her car. Then they left together.
Megan bit her lips and after some time, with great difficulty, she finally nodded and said, "It was me, Officer."
As for their cheating, I sneered in my heart. I knew my husband too well. He was born into a rich family so he had a lot of money to spend. He loved enjoying a luxurious life, drinking and indulging himself.
Part of the reason, he married me, was because I came from an ordinary family and I was a timid person and easy to control.
After our marriage, he kept his lavish lifestyle outside and was known as a rich young master. Meanwhile, I had to stay at home, playing a dutiful housewife while enduring his beating and scolding.
When the police knew Megan was the driver at the time of the accident, besides testing her with the breathalyzer, he also wanted her to take a blood test to determine her alcohol level.
I knew she was just a scapegoat, the real perpetrator was Fred.
So, I pretended to be dumb again and said in an aggravated manner, "This would never happen if we did not agree when Megan asked you to take her home."
When the police heard this, he told Fred, "We will be testing you, too."
Fred glared at me. I knew if we were alone, he would be beating me.
Ever since our marriage, Fred would beat and scold me every time I did something slightly different than he wanted. He had beaten me so hard that I had to stay in the hospital to recuperate.
I had thought once we had children, he would change his way. However, I did not realize it was gold habits never died, because the beating and scolding never stopped.
When he heard that he also had to undergo the test, he became panicked and shouted, "Why should I? I did not drive the car!"
The police answered him calmly, "Just cooperate with us and do the test. It will be over soon."
"How dare you talk to me like that!" He yelled angrily. "Don't you know what kind of relationship I have with Chief Thompson?"
