My breath caught in my throat. The war party. Rowan’s return. Amara.

It all came rushing back – this was the day that had set everything in motion. The day Rowan had brought home that witch who would kill me.

“Luna?” Amelia called out again “Are you listening to me? Is everything alright?”

Unable to stop myself, I rushed towards her enveloping her in a hug. “I’m so glad you’re here,” I whispered. “This changes everything".

Amelia was surprised by my sudden endearment but she didn’t ask any questions. As I dressed, my mind raced. The moon goddess had granted my wish. I’d been given a second chance, taken back to the moment everything changed.

This time, I would fight back.

The great hall was filled with every member of our pack, excitement coating the air. Everyone was happy while I stood at the raised platform, a perfect picture of a devoted Luna waiting for my mate to return but underneath, my wolf snarled and paced… she couldn’t wait to get her revenge but the moon goddess didn’t give me a second chance to act unruly. I had an advantage - I’ve lived this life before. So, it’ll be easy for me.

The doors finally swung open and Rowan strode in with the soldiers that had gone with him to the battlefield. The hall erupted with loud cheering as everyone tried to touch them… to get a piece of our brave soldiers that had fought for three months.

My heart clenched painfully as I caught sight of my mate. He was magnificent – powerful, confident, his red hair whipped in the wind as he turned to smile and wave at the people For a moment, my resolve wavered. How could I have lost this man’s love? How in the moon did he abandon me to suffer and die?

But then, I saw her. Walking just behind Rowan. Her steps were awkward and tentative. The picture of innocence. I could see people staring at her – enthralled by her beauty. The witch’s beauty was as breathtaking as I remembered – long raven hair, emerald eyes that seemed to glow and a body that drew the eyes of every male currently even though she was clad in rags.

“My love,” Rowan said as soon as he came closer. “I’ve missed you,” he said bending down to plant a kiss on my lips.

“And I, you,” I steeled myself, plastering on a warm smile.

Then he turned and faced the people.

“My pack, my family… we return victorious! The rogue threat has been eliminated and our borders are secure once more".
