Dazed and confused, Sabrina pressed a trembling hand to her wound. Then, she slapped him across the face, hard. "What the hell is wrong with you, Ethan?"

Recognizing Sabrina's voice, Ethan barely registered the burning sting of her hand across his cheek. He exhaled shakily, sinking to the floor in relief.

After a beat, he looked up at her, his voice trembling.

"Who is the father?"

Sabrina didn't answer.

Her eyes blazed with contempt as she delivered another searing slap.

The reaper looked at me with a raised eyebrow. "You think this is fun, don't you?"

I shot him a glance.

Watching Ethan and Sabrina tear into each other was definitely entertaining.

I only wished I had more power to strangle them both with my own hands.

Ethan came from a humble background.

He started pursuing me back in college, and it took him two full years.

I was a bit of a loner, not the most social person.

People at school said I was cold and standoffish because of my wealthy background.

I never bothered to explain or care about their opinions.

I didn't have many friends, and Ethan, determined to win me over, drastically cut back on his social life.

For those two years, he was like a shadow, always following me, so gentle that it was hard to turn him away.

I once joked that the way he took care of me made it seem like I was a child who couldn't take care of herself.

He would always smile and pat my head. "In my eyes, you are my little treasure."

At the height of my infatuation, I truly believed he cared for me more than even my parents did.

Gradually, from him chasing after me to me realizing I couldn't live without him, I found myself unable to imagine a life without him.

Eventually, Ethan proposed to me with a bouquet of fresh roses and a diamond ring that wasn't very large.

I agreed without hesitation, but my parents were vehemently opposed.

At that time, my family business had already become a leading enterprise in the region. My father had already picked out a suitable husband for me, the son of a business associate.

No matter how large our family business grew, it was still a family-run enterprise, and my father believed that a marriage alliance with the Brooks family would provide the support needed when I eventually took over the company.

But I was blinded by love and wouldn't hear of it.

First, I sabotaged the blind date my parents had arranged for me, scaring the man off completely.
