There was one thing I never told him, something I kept hidden to spare his pathetic ego.
He was infertile.
When we were trying to conceive, we went for all the necessary tests.
The results came back when he was too busy rushing off to work, leaving me to receive the news alone.
I chose not to tell him. I afraid he wouldn't be able to handle the truth.
Looking back, I wondered if he even wanted a child with me in the first place.
Ethan finally stirred awake, only to be met with Sabrina's eyes wide open, staring straight at him.
He shifted slightly, then instinctively wrapped his arm around her, pulling her closer as if nothing was wrong.
"Ethan," I called out softly.
He stiffened, his eyes darting around.
Although I was inside Sabrina's body, my voice hadn't changed.
"The baby inside me... it's not yours," I whispered, a sinister smile tugging at my lips. I tried to roll my eyes in mockery, but her body didn't quite respond as I intended. "You can't get anyone pregnant, Ethan. You're infertile. Thanks for helping me secure a wealthy dad for my baby, though."
"Who... who are you?"
I leaned closer, lightly patting his cheek. "Take a wild guess."
"Ahhh! A ghost! There's a ghost!" Ethan bolted upright, and eyes wide in terror.
"Hannah, please! I beg you! I'll break up with Sabrina and give the company back to your dad. Just don't haunt me, please!"
A chuckle slipped from my lips.
It only took a few words to reduce him to a quivering mess.
What a pathetic fool.
Watching him fumble as he tried to escape the bed, nearly tripping over his own feet in nothing but his boxers, I couldn't help but laugh.
How did I ever fall in love with such an idiot?
I rose from the bed and glided toward him.
"Stay back!"
"What's wrong, Ethan? Scared I might devour you?" I taunted, inching closer before lowering my voice to a chilling whisper. "Guess who was really sharing that bed with you last night?"
"Ahhhhhh!"
Ethan let out another blood-curdling scream, grabbing a vase from the nightstand and hurling it at me in desperation.
I swiftly vacated Sabrina's body just as the vase shattered on impact.
Sabrina crumpled to the floor, blood trickling down from a nasty gash on her forehead.
Ethan stood there, frozen, before frantically grabbing her by the shoulders.
"Who are you? Who the hell are you?"
