Lucy opened the car door, and I climbed into the Rolls-Royce with Luna, with Lucy joining us inside.
Noticing the state of Luna’s hands, Lucy promptly retrieved a first aid kit from the car and knelt beside her.
“Little Miss, please allow me to tend to your wounds to prevent infection.”
Luna looked at me uneasily, and I gave her a reassuring smile before she offered her hand to Lucy.
As Lucy gently bandaged Luna’s hand, her eyes narrowed. “Sir, did the Robertson family cause these injuries? Would you like me to deal with them?”
Dealing with the Robertson family? I frowned at the thought.
“No, this is between me and the Robertsons. I’ll handle it myself.”
My tone was firm, and Lucy, clearly shaken, knelt fully on the floor. “Forgive my overstepping, Sir! Please grant me your pardon!”
I raised an eyebrow, impressed by the Pritchard family’s strict discipline. “It’s not your fault. You may rise and continue tending to Luna.”
“Yes, sir!”
To ease the tension, I checked my phone and saw that a video of the Pritchard family’s fleet entering the neighborhood had been uploaded to the homeowners’ group chat. The chat was buzzing with speculation.
I played the video, relieved to see that it hadn’t captured any footage of me or Luna, only of Lucy entering the car.
As the wealthiest family in Savannah, the Pritchards had many enemies, and I couldn’t risk exposing Luna to danger.
[Was that the Pritchard family’s convoy that just entered the neighborhood? I saw their crest on the cars!]
[Who could be important enough to warrant the Pritchard family’s fleet coming here?]
[It looked like they were heading towards the Robertsons’… @StellaRobertson, was that a guest of yours the Pritchards came to pick up?]
Playing the part, Stella responded shamelessly, “Ms. Thompson, the Pritchard family’s chief secretary, came to discuss a project with us. Apologies for the commotion their convoy caused.”
The chat erupted with flattery for the Robertsons, and a cold smile crept onto my lips as I deleted the group.
If Stella wanted to pretend to be more important than she was, she’d soon learn the consequences of such a lie.
