It seemed that, in this life, I hadn't made a scene over the photos and filed for divorce, so she came straight to force the issue.

I looked at Ruby and sneered, "So, you're the one who sent me those photos."

Rubbing her slightly swollen belly, Ruby responded, "Yes, it was me. I'm already pregnant with Henry's child. I thought you'd back off on your own, but you sure can endure. After all, you're almost forty. Of course, you'd cling to Henry for dear life."

She eyed me up and down with disdain as she spoke.

I calmly placed the urn in Ruby's hands and said, "True love, right? Then here, you can have him."

Ruby immediately dropped the urn on the ground. The cheap urn cracked open, and ashes scattered everywhere. She waved her hand in disgust, cursing, "What the hell is this? It stinks."

I sneered, "That's your true love, and you're already sick of him?"

Right on cue, Celeste arrived. She kicked the urn out of her way and rushed up to me, screaming, "You wretch. Did you kill my son?"

She reached out to slap me, but I dodged, and her hand landed squarely on Ruby's face instead.

Ruby was stunned by the slap, and even Celeste seemed shocked that I had managed to avoid it. When she saw Ruby's face, an awkward look briefly crossed her face, and Ruby, though clearly furious, stayed silent. Obviously, they knew each other.

Celeste demanded, "Where's my son? Where is he? Take me to see him."

I pointed to the ashes scattered on the ground and the urn that Celeste had kicked to the side. "He's all around us."

Celeste saw it and cursed, "You bitch. You didn't even let me see my son one last time, and you did this to him. How could you be so cruel?"

I wasn't taking the blame for this. I told her, "I called you right away, but you didn't answer. And it was this lady next to you who scattered the ashes, and you kicked the urn."

Ruby tried to argue, but I pointed to the surveillance camera. "It's all on camera."

Ruby shut up.

Celeste slapped Ruby again and cursed, "After all my son did for you, you treat him like this? Both of you are bitches."

Then she started cursing at me and Ruby.

Celeste cursed to her heart's content, and I didn't stop her. As for Henry's scattered ashes, let them fly a bit longer.

Only after Celeste finished cursing did she remember she hadn't collected the ashes. Sadly, only fragments remained.
