"Good thing Wyatt has a sharp memory. Otherwise, he'd be in serious trouble," someone else chimed in.
The mocking voices of our coworkers reached Matthew's ears, and his expression grew more and more grim.
I watched him with a cold, sarcastic smile.
In my past life, I was so desperate to prove my innocence that I overlooked a lot of important details.
Now, I could see that all it was lack of evidence.
That client was incredibly difficult, and it took us a long time to close the deal.
The dinner went late into the night. I was so drunk that I could barely stand, let alone take another woman to a hotel.
All eyes were on Matthew. He stammered for a while but couldn't come up with a single excuse.
If he said even one wrong word, his job would be in jeopardy.
Seeing this, Sophia suddenly lay on the floor, clutching her stomach and crying out in pain.
At this point, no one cared about the cheating accusations anymore. Someone immediately called an ambulance.
Just before I left, my boss called out to me, "Wyatt, I hope you can handle this properly. Don't let me down."
At the hospital, the doctor examined Sophia and found nothing wrong.
Since she kept complaining of pain, the doctor decided to admit her for observation.
"Wyatt, I can't accept your cheating. Let's get a divorce! It's the best choice for both of us," Sophia said. She turned her head stubbornly as if she'd finally decided.
"Sophia, if I remember correctly, the child in your belly is about three months old, right?" I said, glancing at her flat stomach with a slight smirk.
Three months ago, I was on a business trip.
Even with minimal thought, it's obvious the child isn't mine.
Perhaps out of guilt, her hand instinctively rested on her belly.
"So what? You knew I was three months pregnant, yet you still cheated on me. I'm completely disappointed in you. We have to divorce! There's no room for discussion!"
I didn't rush to refuse. Instead, I sat by the bed and nodded. "Fine. You leave with nothing."
Hearing this, she sat up abruptly. She was no longer looking sickly at all.
She glared at me, her tone rising unconsciously. "Wyatt, what do you mean? You cheat on me, and you want me to leave with nothing? Are you even a man?"
I raised a finger to my lips, signaling for silence.
It's the middle of the night. Aren't you going to let the other patients rest?
Clearly, Sophia misunderstood my intentions. She looked at me smugly.
