Timothea’s face flickered with a wry smile.
“It’s a pity that this day has come, but he’s gone. Harper, how cruel could this man be? To force me to have an abortion, leave me with a divorce agreement and walk away when he thought I wouldn’t live long?”
Harper lowered his head in silence for a long moment before replying, “Then have you ever considered that he might be dead?”
“Impossible!”
Timothea bristled. “I forbid you to curse him! A man as cruel as him has avoided me for five years. I wonder where he’s gone to live a comfortable life. How could he possibly be dead?”
Harper smiled. “Just pretend I didn’t say anything, Ms. Johnston. This is the resignation letter Mr. Elmer asked me to give you. He told me to get out.”
That night, the villa’s power went out.
Outside the window, a torrential rain began to fall, accompanied by thunder and lightning. Harper opened my closet and pulled out the pajamas I’d been wearing.
He ran up to Elmer, pretending to be haunted and startled him into a shrill scream.
“Ah! Bond, don’t come looking for me… Get out of here! I didn’t kill you. Blame your own bad luck!”
Elmer was so frightened he went insane. He ran for his life but bumped into someone’s chest and let out another shrill, terrified scream.
“Elmer, it’s me!”
The next second, the lights flickered on.
Timothea appeared with a stern face.
“Enough! Stop playing tricks. Harper, I knew you had ulterior motives from the beginning. Now tell me what you’re up to. What’s your plan?”
Hearing this, Harper sneered and took off his mask. “I didn’t expect you’d figured it out already. Timothea, haven’t you always suspected my purpose for coming here?”
He was a completely different person from the cleaner before. Now he stared coldly at Elmer, pointed at him and said, “I’m here to expose this man’s evil nature.”
Guilt flashed across Elmer’s already pale and disheveled face and he panicked and shook Timothea’s arm.
“Timothea, don’t listen to his nonsense. This bitch is deliberately trying to sow discord among us. Get him out!”
Timothea, who always doted on Elmer, now remained motionless.
She patted Elmer’s back gently.
“Don’t worry. I want to see what he’s up to. Harper, just say what you want to say.”
Harper sneered, his eyes fixed coldly on the man in her arms. “Elmer, do you dare tell Timothea where Bond is and whether he’s alive or dead? And who was the person who donated bone marrow to Timothea?”
