But she only smiled cruelly.

She kicked me again, making me cry out in agony, her laughter ringing through the room.
She commanded the dogs once more, and they lunged at me again.
I tried desperately to crawl away, but I was far too weak.
Just when despair was about to swallow me, the gated community’s security guard, Michael Harris, rushed in.
Seeing the scene, he charged forward and drove the dogs away.
