When the Woman He Betrayed Returned, His Heart Broke AgainChapter 1
My younger sister was kidnapped by our enemies for revenge and tortured for three days and three nights.
When Hendrix heard the news, he grabbed a cleaver and carved his way through a hundred men. By the time the ground ran red with blood, I realized the only person in his heart was my sister.
To protect them both, I took the blame and went to prison for five years.
Before I was led away, Hendrix knelt before me and swore, "As long as I live, no one can harm your sister again in this life."
But when I got out, the only thing that greeted me was her tombstone, hidden beneath wild grass.
After asking around for months, I learned that Hendrix now had another woman by his side—a delicate little thing he guarded like a pearl, pure and untouched by blood.
She stood before me in a white dress, smiling sweetly.
"Are you Leila's sister? Let's get to know each other.
"I'm Hendrix's fiancée. Unlike you people, I'm clean. I've never killed anyone. That's what he loves most about me." Her voice dripped with condescension. "I advise you to behave. Otherwise, you'll end up like your sister."
I stared at that innocent smile—and poured sulfuric acid on it.
Then I called Hendrix, training the camera on Cassidy's twisted, terrified face.
"Your dog has been biting people outside," I intoned coldly. "If you won't control her, I'll do it for you."
——
"Ms. Vienna, Hendrix has sealed off information. We could only get that woman's name—Cassidy. Nothing else. Should we ask Hendrix directly?" my assistant said on the call.
My eyes fixed on my sister's smiling face on the gravestone. My voice was cold as I spat, "Ask? If he wanted to talk, he wouldn't have hid from me for five years."
"Obviously, he's hiding something."
"Anyway, I'm best at finding ghosts," I added. "This woman—" I tapped the file with her name, and my eyes went cold. "Tie her up. I'll question her myself."
Laughter came from behind me before I finished speaking.
A sudden burst of laughter rang out behind me.
Cassidy swayed her hips as she walked closer, her smile dripping venom.
"So, you're Leila's murderer sister? Hendrix told me to pick you up. Didn't expect you to come crawling so soon." She glanced at my sister's tombstone and sneered.
"Just a corpse. What's the point of visiting? No matter how many times you look, she won't crawl back out."
