He threw a stack of photos at her feet—pictures of her meeting with his mother. His face was like ice.
No matter how she tried to explain, he refused to believe her.
From that day on, their marriage hit rock bottom.
Desperate to win him back, she did everything she could—every gesture, every word, every compromise—only to be met with his indifference and distant coldness.
Then, Pearl, Coraline’s twin sister, returned to the country.
For the first time in months, light appeared in Quincy’s eyes again. He even personally invited Pearl to join his company and gave her the position of vice president on her very first day.
That day, Pearl crashed her car straight into his Maybach that was parked downstairs.
But Quincy only smiled gently. “It’s fine,” he said.
He even generously gave her three limited-edition luxury cars!
The next day, Pearl lost crucial meeting files and missed an important bidding project.
Instead of reprimanding her, Quincy fired the subordinates who dared to object to her.
On the third day, Alannah’s mother was in a car accident and needed emergency surgery. Desperate, Alannah had no choice but to beg Quincy for help.
But he didn’t even look up from his documents. “Alannah,” he said coldly, “all company funds are managed by Pearl now. If you need money, you’ll need her approval.”
Her chest tightened. Her voice shook. “Quincy… my mom… She’s in the ICU. She needs this surgery immediately. Every minute we delay could cost her life…”
He finally looked up. The light behind his gold-rimmed glasses was dark and sharp. “I told you. Everything goes through Pearl.”
“Your mother’s life is in your hands,” he added harshly. “If something happens to her, you’ll only have yourself to blame for wasting time.”
Alannah staggered back a few steps, her face pale.
He adjusted his glasses, his tone colder than ice. “Don’t look at me like that, Alannah. You know I hate liars most of all. Everything that’s happened? You brought it on yourself.”
Her ears buzzed violently. Her mother’s life depended on a million, and Alannah had no choice. In the end, she went to beg Pearl.
Pearl was in the middle of a meeting when Alannah arrived, disheveled and desperate.
Pearl smirked, clicking across the room in her heels. “Well, well. The great wife of the CEO can’t even afford a million?”
