She cried while cradling the dress like a priceless treasure, shielding it with her body.
Felix frowned with heartache and pulled her into his arms immediately.
The look he gave me was pure disgust and rage.
“Ulyssa, I’ll say it again. Apologize to Tracy.”
“Otherwise, forget about marrying me!”
He held the weeping Tracy in his arms while screaming down at me like a king disciplining a servant.
That look on his face, full of confidence, as if I would kneel and beg him at any moment.
Even now, he still thought I was desperate to marry him.
“Fine, I’ll apologize.”
I spoke calmly. “But it has to wait until the wedding tomorrow.”
The moment I said it, Felix’s expression shifted into one of absolute certainty.
“I knew it.”
“You chased me for so many years. How could you possibly give up the chance to marry me?”
“Ulyssa, see? You should have surrendered earlier.”
“You had to make such a scene and force me to lay hands on you before you’d behave.”
After saying that, he even lowered his head in a show of concern to check the injury he caused when he threw me. Pretending to care.
I let him perform.
After all, tomorrow’s show would not work without this setup.
The next day, the wedding hall was packed.
The guests were whispering, every sentence dripping with ridicule.
“I thought she had guts. She made such a fuss the other day, but in the end she still came crawling back.”
“She really thinks she’s someone. Felix only pities her and she dares put on airs.”
The officiant was reciting the vows, the atmosphere solemn. I stood in the center, listening quietly.
Felix, in a tailored suit, leaned close to whisper sternly in my ear.
“It’s time to apologize, isn’t it? Ulyssa, I agreed to your little request. Now you’ll apologize to Tracy. No more excuses.”
His tone sounded like a man granting charity.
“Of course,” I answered slowly.
The next second, I lifted my hand, ripped off the wedding dress I was wearing, and threw it directly over his head.
“My sincere apologies, Felix.”
“This dress you gave me five years ago, I kept it for you all this time. Now I’m returning it.”
The hall erupted instantly.
Screams, gasps, confusion, chaos.
Felix was hit squarely by the dress. His face turned red with fury. He tore the dress to shreds and roared:
“Ulyssa, what are you trying to do? Stop this now and I’ll still give you a chance to apologize to Tracy!”
I laughed.
“Of course I’m here to apologize.”
