I looked at both envelopes and then at his face, and every late night trip and every strange excuse from the past two years fell into place. I leaned closer and said quietly, “Tell me right now why both of you are carrying fertility clinic documents with your names on them.”

His lips parted without sound while the girl let out a soft gasp, and he said under his breath, “Natalie, not here.”

“Not here,” I repeated louder while a few people nearby turned to look at us, “you brought this situation into an airport so we can absolutely talk about it here.”

The young woman looked like she might collapse as she clutched her purse tightly. “You told me you were divorced,” she said, her voice shaking, “you said everything was already finalized.”

I let out a sharp laugh that even surprised me. “Divorced is interesting because I was in our house this morning packing his favorite travel pillow before coming here.”

Ryan dragged a hand down his face like he was already exhausted. “Natalie, please stop making this a scene.”

“No,” I said firmly, “you made a scene the moment you decided to play husband with me and future father with someone else at the same time.”

The girl turned to him so quickly her ponytail swung across her shoulder. “Future father,” she repeated in disbelief.

That was when I realized she did not know everything either.

I looked at her carefully and then at the envelope in her bag. “You really do not know, do you.”

She swallowed hard. “Know what exactly.”

Before he could stop me, I reached toward the paper sticking out of her purse, and she tried to pull away but it was too late. I saw her name printed clearly as Brianna Collins, and his name beside it along with the clinic details and the words treatment plan and embryo transfer.

My hands started to shake as I processed what I was seeing.

Brianna covered her mouth and whispered, “Oh my God.”

I looked at Ryan and said quietly, “You used our joint savings for this.”

He did not deny it, and that silence was confirmation of everything I needed to know.

I remembered standing in our kitchen six months earlier asking why thirty thousand dollars had disappeared from our account, and he told me it was a business investment and kissed my forehead like I was overthinking. I remembered crying alone later because he kept delaying IVF with me even though he knew how much I wanted a child.

All that time he was not unsure.
