Rain or heat, she rode through the city—three meals a day depended on her wheels.

Back to the Present – At the Hospital

Callie burst into the ER entrance with the old man on her back.

“Accident victim! He needs help!”

A nurse rushed forward.
A wheelchair appeared.
Doctors surrounded him and disappeared behind swinging doors.

“Are you family?” a nurse asked.

“No,” Callie panted. “I just found him.”

She dug through his pocket until she found a cracked phone.

Only one number was saved under MY SON.

She dialed.

A deep voice answered immediately:

“Dad?”

“This is… someone else,” Callie said shakily. “Your father was hit by a car. He’s at St. Mary’s Hospital.”

“What? I’m on my way!”

Thirty minutes later, a black Range Rover screeched into the parking lot.
A tall man—late 20s, immaculate shirt, expensive watch—rushed in.

“Where is he? My father! Who called me?”

Callie raised her hand timidly.

“You brought him here? On that bike?” the man asked, astonished.

She nodded.

Without another word, he ran into the ER.

Her Worst Fear Came True

Callie returned to the scene to retrieve the urgent package.

It was gone.

Stolen.

Her phone rang—her manager.

“You lost the package? You’re fired. Turn in your jacket and bike.”

The call ended.

Her stomach hollowed.

She had saved a life… and lost everything.

The Son Returns – And Everything Changes

When she returned to the hospital, the man approached her.

“My name is Brandon Hale,” he said. “And you’re Callie, right?”

She nodded.

“My father survived because of you. The doctors said even a five-minute delay could have killed him.”

Callie swallowed, unsure what to say.

“You also lost your job today, didn’t you?” Brandon asked quietly.

“How did you—?”

“You work for RapidRoute Delivery, correct?”

Her breath caught.

“Yes…”

He exhaled sharply.

“I own the company.”

Callie froze.

He owned RapidRoute? Her employer?

Brandon pulled out his phone.

“What’s your full name?”

“Callie Brooks.”

He dialed her manager.

“Reinstate her immediately. Replace the stolen package. And transfer Mr. Lewis to a different branch—he’s no longer her supervisor.”

He hung up before the manager could speak.

Callie stared at him, speechless.

“You risked everything to save my father,” Brandon said. “You didn’t deserve punishment.”

She Tells Him Everything

In the hospital waiting room, Brandon asked softly:

“Who are you, Callie? What’s your story?”
