One stormy afternoon, Margaret cornered Naomi in the main bathroom, mocking her for “playing mother.” Before Naomi could react, Margaret shoved her inside, slammed the door, and locked it. The rain roared outside as Naomi pounded the door, begging to be let out. Minutes passed. Then she heard small footsteps. Owen whispered that they would help. Despite Naomi’s warning, the twins crawled through an old side passage connecting their room to the bathroom. The hatch snapped shut behind them. All three were trapped. The lights flickered. Lily cried in fear. Naomi held them close and taught them to pray, telling them that fear cannot live where faith exists.

That same stormy evening, Lucas returned home to chaos. A nanny ran to him, pale with terror, saying she couldn’t find the twins. Lucas ordered a full search. Margaret claimed calmly that the children were probably hiding and that Naomi had gone home early. Something felt wrong. A guard soon found a blood-stained cloth near the guest bathroom. Lucas ran. The door was locked. When he heard Naomi’s voice from inside saying the twins were with her, his fury exploded. He smashed the lock open and froze at the sight: Naomi kneeling on the cold floor, shielding his children with her body. Owen ran into his arms, crying that Naomi had not left them. Security footage soon revealed Margaret locking the door and walking away smiling. Lucas fired her on the spot and had her escorted out into the rain.

At dawn, Naomi packed her bag, expecting dismissal. Instead, she found a note asking her to meet them in the garden. There, Lucas sat barefoot on the grass while the twins laughed beside him. They proudly showed Naomi a tiny plant they had planted for her. Lucas thanked her for bringing light back into the house and admitted his grief had blinded him. Naomi replied softly that children don’t need money—they need love.

Peace returned, but resentment did not disappear. Weeks later, Margaret came back in secret, trying to sabotage Naomi. She was caught again and thrown out for good. Then came the real shock. A mysterious envelope arrived with a photo from the hospital years ago and a note claiming one of the twins had been switched at birth. Margaret burst in, confessing that a baby swap had occurred the night Naomi gave birth elsewhere and lost her child. DNA tests later confirmed it—Lily was Naomi’s biological daughter.
