But the sergeant showed no mercy. He grabbed the driver by the neck and shouted:
“If you don’t have money, why are you driving a taxi? I’ll show you what happens when you argue with me!”
At that moment, Maya stepped forward.
—Sergeant, what you’re doing is illegal. The driver has broken no law, and you have no right to assault or extort him. Let him go immediately.
Tom Davis laughed mockingly.

—Oh? You’re teaching me the law now? Looks like you want to spend the night in jail too.
Unaware of who she truly was, Tom ordered his officers:
—Take both of them to the station.
At the station, they were forced onto a bench. Soon after, Tom received a phone call, openly discussing bribes. Maya listened carefully, mentally recording every word.
She leaned toward the driver and said softly:
“Don’t worry. I’m not just anyone. I’m Police Captain Maya Reynolds. I’m letting this play out so I can expose everything.”
Though shocked, the driver trusted her.
Later, Tom demanded money again. The terrified driver handed over €200. Then Maya was called inside.
—What’s your name? Tom asked.
—That’s not your concern, she replied calmly. Why did you call me here?
Enraged by her confidence, Tom ordered:
—Lock her up!
Maya was placed in a holding cell.
Not long after, a black SUV pulled up outside. City official James Wilson stormed inside.
—I heard a woman was detained here.
Tom smugly led him to the cell.
The moment James saw her, his face went pale.
—Do you know who this is?! This is Captain Maya Reynolds, head of city police!
Tom’s knees nearly gave out.
Maya was released immediately. She calmly reported everything: the roadside extortion, the threats, the bribes, the abuse of power.
Internal Affairs was notified. The police chief and commissioner arrived the same day.
After reviewing evidence, body-cam footage, and witness statements, the commissioner said:
—This is a gross abuse of authority. Sergeant Tom Davis is under arrest.
Handcuffs were placed on Tom Davis.
—This is what happens when you betray the badge, the commissioner said.
And just like that, justice was served.
