Olivia shouted that it was impossible, but Emily signaled a staff member to distribute envelopes.
“Please open them,” Emily said.
Inside were documents showing the transfer of forty two thousand dollars from Emily’s trust to Diane’s account, and then to Olivia’s home purchase.
The crowd fell silent as realization spread.
“You told us Emily wasted that money,” Aunt Linda said in shock.
Diane tried to defend herself, but Emily stepped forward and spoke clearly.
“You stole my education fund and used it to buy that house,” she said.
She then revealed her success and signaled her lawyer, who stepped forward and served legal papers to Diane.
“You are being sued for fraud and financial misconduct,” he stated.
Chapter 5: The Eviction of Ego
The atmosphere shifted as relatives distanced themselves from Diane.
Some tried to side with Emily, but she rejected them calmly.
“You laughed when I was humiliated,” she said. “You are not welcome here.”
She turned to Olivia and explained that the house would likely be seized due to the legal claim.
Olivia broke down in tears while blaming her mother.
Diane begged for forgiveness, but Emily remained firm.
“You made your choices, and now you will face them,” she said before ordering everyone to leave.
Chapter 6: The View from the Top
Three months later, Emily sat peacefully at her estate as she reviewed the court judgment that ruled entirely in her favor.
Diane was ordered to repay the money, and Olivia’s house had been seized as part of the settlement.
Emily felt a brief sadness for her past self, but she let it go and focused on the life she had built.
She instructed her assistant to offer her guest house to a student in need, wanting to support someone facing similar struggles.
Standing on her balcony, she looked toward the distant city and reflected on everything that had changed.
She raised her glass and said softly, “To new beginnings.”
