Clara was sitting on the sofa, running her fingertips over a Braille version of a design magazine, trying to capture a bit of inspiration from the raised texture.

Footsteps sounded behind her, and Vanessa's voice, though deliberately sweet, couldn't hide the malice in her eyes: "Clara, do you think this necklace is pretty? It's a birthday gift from Liam, a limited edition."

Clara didn't turn around, but simply gave a soft "hmm".

Vanessa persisted, walking up to Clara and twirling the platinum necklace around her neck. The diamonds on the pendant reflected a dazzling light, causing Clara to squint.

She walked around Clara once, her gaze landing on the half-open suitcase in the corner, a calculating smile playing on her lips.

Not long after, Vanessa's scream shattered the tranquility of the living room.

"Where's my necklace?! My necklace is gone!" She frantically searched the sofa and coffee table, finally rushing to Clara and grabbing her wrist. "Did you steal my necklace?!"

Clara frowned and forcefully shook off her hand: "I didn't."

"You still dare to argue!" Vanessa's voice suddenly rose, her eyes filled with resentment. "There are only the two of us in the whole house. If you didn't steal it, who did? You're just jealous of me, jealous of how good Liam is to me!"

She leaned close to Clara's ear, her voice low but each word piercing: "You're just an unwanted blind woman. Liam stopped loving you a long time ago. What are you doing here? Like a rat in the gutter, you're a nuisance!"

These words were like a dull knife, cutting into Clara's heart again and again.

But her face remained expressionless as she coldly stared at Vanessa—even with her vision blurred, she could imagine Vanessa's expression at that moment.

Seeing that she didn't speak, Vanessa assumed she was guilty and immediately took out her phone, crying as she called Liam: "Liam... come back quickly... my necklace is missing... Clara stole it... she bullied me..."

Liam's voice on the other end of the phone instantly became anxious: "Don't cry, I'll be right back!"

After hanging up the phone, Vanessa glanced triumphantly at Clara, like a victorious peacock.

Less than half an hour later, hurried footsteps came from the entrance hall. Liam rushed into the living room and immediately saw Vanessa with red eyes. He rushed over, hugged her tightly, and comforted her repeatedly, "What's wrong? Don't cry, I'm here."
