"Now I'm going to make her watch from the spirit realm as her precious legitimate daughter gets carved up ten times, slapped a hundred times, until she's even more worthless than I ever was!"

She bent down and snatched up a shard of the broken silver bracelet from the floor, clutching it in her fist. Then she drove it into Lyra's face. The jagged edge tore through skin, bringing pain sharper than any blade.

The agony in her chest and the wounds on her face twisted together, overwhelming her. Lyra couldn't bear it anymore. Blood sprayed from her lips, her vision went black, and she lost consciousness completely.

Just before the darkness took her, she heard the den door slam open. Fenris's voice, sharp with fury, his Alpha command ringing through the air: "Stop!"

She didn't know how much time had passed before Lyra slowly opened her eyes. The familiar smell of healing herbs and salves filled her nose. She was back in the pack healer's quarters.

Fenris sat in the chair beside her bed, a trace of something that might have been concern flickering across his face. His voice was gentler than usual. "Lyra. What happened today... Selene went too far. I'm sorry you had to go through that."

Lyra's entire face was wrapped in thick layers of bandages, leaving only her red, swollen eyes visible. She blinked, her dry eyes stinging with a sour ache, her voice scraped raw as sandpaper: "Did you summon the Pack Enforcers?"

Fenris's gaze shifted. A flicker of guilt crossed his features before he composed himself, looking away. "Selene is... she's still your sister by blood, after all. What she did was wrong—I've already punished her for it. Don't dwell on it. Just focus on recovering."

"How did you punish her?" Lyra's voice held no emotion. Terrifyingly calm.

Fenris quickly pulled a small box from his coat and opened it. Inside lay the silver bracelet, restored. He set the box on the edge of the bed, his tone measured: "When she was cutting you, the dagger slipped and cut her palm too. She bled quite a bit. I've ordered her confined to her chambers—no leaving the den, no access to anything sharp. Lyra, that's enough. Don't push this so far that you ruin the bond between sisters completely."
