"So, you know each other?" The policeman was incredulous after hearing Alicia's explanation. Seeing me nod, he released both of us.
Alicia looked at Damon with a grievance. "Damon, can you accompany me to the hospital? I'm afraid..."
Damon comforted her, patting her head gently. "Don't worry. As I said, the surgery was successful, done by me in person. There won't be any problems, and you will recover soon."
In the back of my mind, I caught a keyword. "Surgery? What surgery?"
"Half a month ago, I had a corneal transplant surgery, so my eyes will be normal again." Alicia looked at Damon happily. "All thanks to Damon. He came to see Star and coincidentally found me. He helped me with many things and performed the surgery himself.
"You were lucky. The donor passed away at our hospital. We had the priority." Damon patted her back, looking quite happy.
Half a month ago, donor, corneal transplant...
It was Glenda.
I pieced together the fragments and got an absurd puzzle.
Glenda's corneas were transplanted by Damon into Alicia.
Our daughter died, and her father was celebrating the luck of his first love.
My mind buzzed, filled with intense, undiluted hatred.
I stepped forward and slapped Damon hard. "Damon, you're a beast!"
The policeman, fearing I would make things tense, pulled me away and said, "Ms. Hale, since the incident has happened and you know each other, let's see how we can resolve this?"
Damon finally understood that I was not there because of him. "Did you buy this cemetery plot? Why did you buy it?"
The cemetery staff nearby knew the reason and looked at him with confusion. "Mr. Wagner, are you and Ms. Hale close?" If so, he should know whom I bought this plot for.
Damon replied calmly, "Thank you for your hard work. This is a misunderstanding. This lady is my wife."
The policeman and cemetery staff stared at me in astonishment.
At that moment, I regretted not divorcing him earlier.
I said coldly, "I don't know this lady who's meddling with my cemetery plot. And I don't accept mediation. I will sue her for malicious destruction of property, and she will face the legal consequences."
"Suzanne! What do you mean?" Damon snapped.
I sneered, "What? Feeling sorry for her? But it's okay. If you bow to me 99 times with her, I may relent and consider not suing her."
