I had been catching up on sleep and absentmindedly responded to the group message before going back to sleep.
Little did I know it was such a disgusting document.
"I don't think the labor law stipulates this."
James frowned, feeling quite embarrassed.
He was also a worker.
"Let me be frank, causing a scene might not be in your best interest."
"Our company is quite influential. If Mr. Wallace speaks ill of you, I'm afraid it will be difficult for you to find another job."
I I chuckled coldly.
The company had grown from a little branch to a giant in the industry with a daily turnover of tens of millions. Even the headquarters held it in high regard.
Wasn't I the one primarily responsible for this success?
"Did Silas inform you of this?"
James nodded and continued, "He also said that you must hand over your work and leave by Friday, or else social security deductions will commence next Monday."
"You don't have to stream today. Assist the new streamer behind the scenes."
I was so angry and amused by Silas's actions.
I had worked in the company for five years.
There wasn't even a proper farewell.
But I wouldn't let this go easily.
I would make Silas see if the company could survive without me.
I walked out of the office and my colleague from the product selection team pulled me aside.
He whispered, "Is Silas going to fire you?"
I nodded.
He guessed it right.
He appeared concerned.
He said, "Oh my god! No way!"
"Last time, I reminded you to clock in, you didn't take it seriously. I thought you would never be laid off."
"It's probably because of that banquet when he touched your thigh and you reported him."
At his words, memories flooded back.
At the last company banquet, Silas represented the branch, accompanied by numerous executives from the company headquarters.
Being one of the most exceptional employees at the branch, I was seated at a prominent table.
Silas sat next to me, but he was not behaving properly.
At first, he touched my calf intentionally or not.
Later, his hand moved to my thighs, causing me discomfort.
I was unable to tolerate it, so I stood up directly.
"Mr. Wallace, if you don't know how to put your hands in the right place, I can help you."
With that, I raised his hand and placed it on Victor Richards, the president of the headquarters seated nearby.
The usually aloof Victor's face darkened.
Silas withdrew his hand and apologized awkwardly.
But he held a grudge against me.
