On the way here, I saw that Tara often posted some of her interactions with Cesar on Twitter.
Per her, she would be engaged to Cesar when she grew up. No wonder she looked at me maliciously when Cesar gave me the bracelet.
I thought to myself, "So, should I take this bracelet now?"
I looked at Preston. Smilingly, he looked at me and said nothing.
Joseph sat next to me and took the bracelet over.
"Just take it. You don't have to be polite with Cesar. He is usually reticent. When you were a child, we took you to have fun together. When you were lost, he and I both were sad all these years."
At this time, I had no idea about what the bracelet stood for. Given that it was a hand-me-down from an elder, it would be impolite for me to turn it down.
So I took it.
Cesar wanted to say something, but Joseph pushed him out and said, "Hurry up and leave. Say it tomorrow if you have anything to say. Cara and I will have some catch up conversations."
I could tell that Joseph doted on me so much.
I guessed in my heart, "But I don't think he gets along with Tara. Is he spoiling me?"
Tara didn't run far, nor did she go out. She was still in the yard.
While seeing Cesar off, I overheard Tara say to Fiona, "Mom, don't you want me anymore?"
At her pitiful look, I couldn't help but feel moved.
At the thought that I had been abducted and this was my home, I felt that it was nothing.
"Tara, why would I drive you away? When your mother handed you over to me personally, I promised her that I would treat you as my own daughter, and that you would be my biological daughter forever."
"Cara is older than you. From now on, call her sister. You are both my precious daughters."
Joseph said, "Tara's mother was our servant back then. After you were lost, her mother accompanied mom for a walk every year. Then a car hit her and she passed away, making Tara a parent-less kid. Feeling sorry for her, mom raised her as her own daughter."
Looking into my eyes, he added, "But you are my only biological sister and the real lady of the Smith family."
Joseph's words touched me. I thought that I shouldn't be here by fate, but all my family members were trying to make me feel welcome.
Mom took me upstairs to my room, saying, "Baby, this is where you lived when you were a child. I have been helping you clean it. I knew you would come back."
