She couldn't understand, got severely depressed, and eventually hanged herself with a towel.
Before dying, she burned the love letters he had given her. Life was fragile and ended in ashes.
My dad woke up, weak and confused. He scanned the room and fixed his gaze on me.
He tried to lift his hand, signaling me to go over.
Once I was in front of him, he intended to slap me.
Unfortunately, he lacked the strength, and his hand fell limp.
"Why did you come so late?"
His eyes were fierce despite his condition.
I blinked innocently. "Dad, I didn't hear you. I was listening to music."
He was furious but helpless.
My mom pulled me into the hospital corridor, her brows furrowed with worry.
"Ollie, your dad needs care. I want to quit my job to look after him," she said.
"Mom, no—" I interrupted, showing her my dad's phone.
I showed her his sickening chat logs with his mistress and endless money transfers.
My mom turned pale and fainted in my arms.
I supported her, shouting for help.
Luckily, we were in a hospital, and medical staff quickly arrived.
Soon, a middle-aged man in a white coat rushed over, full of concern.
"Ollie, how's your mom?"
It was Mario Cobb.
In my past life, he had secretly loved my mom and wanted to marry her.
But my mom had been too depressed to consider it, missing the chance.
I squeezed out a couple of pitiful tears.
"Mario, my dad is such a jerk!"
Mario listened to me tell him about my dad's disgraceful behavior. His face turned livid. He readily agreed to my request to help look after my mom and keep her from visiting my dad too often.
After settling my mom, I headed to my dad's hospital room.
He was throwing his bowl around.
"Where's the nurse?" he yelled. "Why hasn't she come yet? Quick, help me find my wife and daughter. Where the hell have they gone?"
I walked in with a big smile on my face.
"Dad, Mom suddenly felt unwell and fainted. She can't take care of you anymore. I'll hire a caregiver for you."
My dad threw his fork at me.
"If your mom can't look after me, why can't you? What's all this about hiring someone? Is this how you repay me for raising you?
"And why are you smiling? Both your parents are sick. What's there to smile about, you ungrateful brat!"
My smile only grew wider.
"Oh, it's nothing. I just ran into Mario. He's such a nice guy. I asked him to help smooth things over at the hospital, and he agreed."
