I looked calm, but I was feeling miserable inside.

"I have told you that you don't have to prepare so many surprises for me."

Audrey looked at me with disgust in her eyes.

I didn't say anything.

I looked over at the man.

The man looked flustered as he stood in place awkwardly.

His blurry features became increasingly clearer in front of me.

I was shocked.

After a while, I said hoarsely, "Benjamin?"

3

The man in front of me was my best friend.

We had known each other for more than ten years.

Benjamin Clark was an excellent child in every aspect as a child, but he came from a poor family. His parents were so strict with him and always wanted him to make it in the big city.

However, Benjamin had just graduated from college, so it was hard for him to find a suitable job. Besides, he didn't have a place to live, so he was in dire need of money.

I reached out to Benjamin and took him to my dad's company to relieve his extreme urgency.

I could remember when Audrey and I got married, Benjamin was my best man and he teased, "When I become a rich man in the future, I'm going to marry a woman like Audrey!"

Every time I heard his words, I would say jokingly, "Audrey is so wonderful, and it's not easy to get a woman like her!"

So did he just get a woman like that?

I would never have believed Audrey would betray me before, no matter what.

I would even less believe that my best friend would go behind my back and be with my wife.

"Landon."

Benjamin rubbed his nose in embarrassment and uttered my name.

"Well!" I sneered, "Benjamin, why are you in my house?"

Benjamin stepped forward and put his arm around my shoulders, anxiously explaining to me, "Landon, Audrey messaged me that the power head was broken, so I came over to help her.

"Don't blame Audrey. Landon, look at you, how could you leave Audrey home alone?"

I thought, "Did you help her in bed?

I wasn't home for you to take advantage of the situation."

I never realized how sophisticated and adaptable Benjamin had become.

The friend who used to be so grateful to me when I invited him to dinner had completely disappeared.

Seeing that I was silent, Audrey actively turned around and stepped in front of Benjamin.

Audrey's instinctive action stunned both her and me.

I could see that Audrey had chosen Benjamin between me and him.

Audrey, in a rare move, didn't make a scene.

She looked at Benjamin.

"You should leave. Thank you for today!"
