I, who had accidentally lost my cell phone, couldn't contact the driver.
The subway and buses stopped running, so I leisurely walked back home. It was not a long journey. It happened that I could enjoy the scenery on a rainy night.
When I was almost home, I saw Caleb in the rain, as if looking for someone.
"Caleb, did you lose something?"
He looked at me as if he had gone mad. Then he tightly hugged me.
"Why didn't you answer the phone?"
"I lost my cell phone."
"If something happens to you, your parents will be worried."
I knew that Caleb couldn't give up on our marriage yet.
The Moore family needed our marriage alliance, so nothing could happen to me.
Otherwise, he couldn't explain it to my parents.
I didn't want to act coquettishly in front of him.
But I silently said in my heart, "Are you worried about me?"
He picked me up. I felt his forehead was burning.
Ignoring the butler, I still went out.
I was lost in my thoughts.
"Maybe Caleb won't pick me up on such a rainy night today."
Dazzling car lights were flashing in my eyes.
It was my last thought before being hit by a car.
"Forget it."
Clara and Caleb could be considered childhood sweethearts. They had been in the same class since junior high school. It wasn't until they went to different universities after the college entrance examination in their senior year that they separated.
The first time when I met Caleb, it was just a coincidence.
It was April Fool's Day. The early admission exam for high schools had ended. I came out for relax. Unexpectedly, I heard someone arguing.
"We can't be together. Actually... we are siblings!"
"It doesn't matter, my dear. For you, I don't care what others think of me!"
I was shocked by such an astounding conversation. Then I stopped and planned to eavesdrop.
Then the topic suddenly changed, and they laughed.
"Well, you've had enough, Caleb. Every April Fool's Day, you either try to deceive me or play tricks on me to embarrass me. Luckily, you put so much effort into this useless thing. How did your college entrance examination go? I think it's hanging by a thread with your poor attitude towards studying."
"Put your mind at ease. Even if I didn't do well on the exam, I will continue to be in the same class as you in high school!"
I was amused by their jokes. It was obvious that they were good friends. Everything they did was just childish pranks on April Fool's Day.
