I didn't know when it was all up to him whether we went cold turkey or made up.
But he was not like this before.
Ever since he and Hailey had become friends on the screen, things had changed.
In the past, for the sake of our childhood friendship, I couldn't let go of him. I would forgive him every time he took the initiative to apologize.
But I suddenly got tired of him this time.
I was okay with him blacklisting me.
I stroked my abdomen. The baby who once lived here was gone but before I could tell him.
Maybe it was an omen.
I was a game trainer who was good at playing the jungler and shooter. I played games for others to earn a living.
I was free but I was busy and had less socialisation.
Jacob wanted to be a game streamer before he entered the entertainment industry. He asked me to play games with him day and night.
He was not good enough and gave up. Instead, I managed to be a game trainer.
My dream was to be a writer. He said that he liked to watch me play games, so I abandoned my dream as he wished.
I rejected a lot of game orders and rested peacefully for a few days.
I just finished the discharge procedures when I received a call from Jacob. "Where are you? I'll pick you up for dinner later."
I knew that he was unilaterally announcing the end of the cold war.
"No, we are done."
"Abby, don't make a scene. I've been busy these days and ignored you. I'm going to take you to eat delicious food. Baby, let's meet first, okay?"
He made it easy for me to oblige him every time he kept a low profile to coax me.
Since I couldn't explain it clearly over the phone, I would break up with him face to face.
"I am in the hospital," I replied.
"I’ll be there in half an hour. Wait for me," he said in an insistent tone.
My legs were numb and my lower abdomen was swelling after I stood at the entrance of the hospital for half an hour.
The hospital was too cool with the air conditioning on, and it would have left me sick for I just had a miscarriage half a month ago.
I thought that he might have been delayed by a traffic jam, so I could only sit on the flower bed under the big tree and wait in the hot summer.
He didn’t appear until it was dark and he didn't answer my phone.
I was afraid that he would get distracted by our break-up and get into a car accident on the way.
But when I saw Hailey's Instagram post, my heart really died.
In the photo was the back of Jacob cooking sugar water for her.
