Valery wanted to say something else, but seeing my unpleasant expression and my tightly clenched fist, she was afraid that I would hurt her. Finally, she picked up her bag and phone and left the house.
Early the next morning, just as I finished breakfast and was about to go out, Valery, her brother Jarrett Wright, and many of her relatives came to the door, all of them angry, especially Jarrett.
Jarrett looked around and threw the vase on my table to the ground, saying, "I'm telling you, the Wright family are here. Don't you ever think about dragging Valery down? You can do whatever you want with the house. You can sell it or take out a loan, but now you must go with me to the Family Court to get a divorce."
The surrounding relatives nodded and shouted.
"That's right, Valery is not even thirty yet. She can't be left without a place to live in the future."
"If you don't have to get a divorce, you must promise not to sell the house for medical treatment!"
"Don't think about finding someone to rely on when you're about to die. Our family won't agree with that."
Jarrett interrupted everyone's words, "No need to talk to him. Even if he promises, I won't believe it. Valery is young and beautiful, and she hasn't had children. She can find another man who is healthy and has a house easily. Then she can ask for more!"
I was originally puzzled as to why Jarrett would suggest a divorce. It turned out he was waiting for Valery to ask for more from another man.
When it came to money, Jarrett added, "Even if you divorce now, we cannot return the money you gave us. After all, you have been married for two years. Valery has slept with you for two years. The money is what we deserve."
Valery's expression didn't change when she heard such insulting words, as if she thought Jarrett was right. I snorted, "Is this how you treat yourself as a commodity and always help him? Are you willing to always be a brother-supporter?"
Valery hid behind Jarrett. "How can an orphan like you understand what blood kinship is? If you promise me to give up treatment, I can still treat you well like before and let you die happily for the rest of your life!"
I was so angry that my head was dizzy. I couldn't wait to reveal the truth right now. I sneered, "Valery, if it were you who had cancer, could you accept what you planned to do to me?"
