He carried me to the bathroom and closed the door behind us.
I was so dizzy from his kiss that I was afraid I'd fall asleep again, just like before.
So, I wrapped my arms around his neck and pressed him down for dear life.
He was astonished, as he was always the one to take the initiative when we were together and I would never do such a thing.
Glancing at me, he smirked and said in a somewhat sinister voice, "Baby, are you coming today?"
I dared not answer. Instead, I smiled and picked up a towel. Without a word, I tied his hands and feet to see if he was in a hurry to leave.
Yet, as the minutes ticked by, he remained as cool as a cucumber.
Furious, I stared him straight in the eyes, realizing he wasn't in a hurry. It seemed I had jumped to conclusions.
Was he not going out? Or was he just going for a walk to enjoy the cold breeze?
It might be, but I was worried, thinking he wasn't going out and I lost interest in playing along.
I pushed him away and went to take a shower.
But as soon as I turned around, he grabbed my arm and asked, "Baby, why aren't you continuing? What's the matter?"
I rolled my eyes and snapped, "You take a shower first. Once you're done, I'll pick up where we left off. Mark my words."
"Oh, right. But aren't we going to shower together? It seems like a perfect way to enjoy the night," he teased.
In the past, when we were still head over heels for each other, we used to shower together. But tonight felt different—odd and strange.
He had pushed me to my limit and I was emotionally drained. After I came out, my eyes were red from crying.
He gently laid me on the bed, smiled and kissed me. Then, trying to make things right, he poured me a glass of water.
Indeed, I was parched. As soon as I got the water, I gulped it down.
He then wrapped me in his arms, turned off the light and gently rocked me to sleep like a baby.
Countless nights, he had held me close, comforted me and watched over me until I was sound asleep.
I didn't want to drift off, but my eyelids felt like lead. When drowsiness suddenly hit, I clutched his hand and said, "Husband."
"Hmm, I'm here. I'll always be here. Now, go to sleep," he murmured.
Right after Beckett arrived at the agreed location, Titus was already in the area.
He sighed, lifted his arms, glanced at the time on his watch and teased, "I have three hours left."
