When I first came here, I didn't know the ways of the world and pissed off a lot of people. I wanted to change, but I didn't know where to start.
"What do you want in the student council? Or are you just here to pass the time?"
That was the first thing Ethan ever told me.
At that time, I was isolated from the others, so I had to sit alone in the corner. I struggled to keep up with them, blindly taking notes on the meeting.
After the meeting, Ethan approached me to talk.
He gave me the notes he had taken and said helplessly, "If you want to surpass others, you need to surpass yourself first. You're brilliant, but you haven't found your own way."
He was quite serious with others, but he loved to talk to me with fervour and assurance. I gradually got to know him better and would tell him what was on my mind, and he wouldn't get impatient and would listen and reply to me.
At a party of the student council, we were playing Truth or Dare together. Ethan was unfortunate enough to lose, and Zachary Davis, who was his roommate, didn't miss the opportunity.
Zachary took the chance to ask seriously in a teasing tone, "You're helping Victoria not because you're in love, are you?"
At that moment, he smiled with joy in his eyes, his voice mellow and low. "Why not?"
Everyone was shocked when Ethan and I went out on a date, and they didn't expect Ethan to be with me anyway.
Ethan knew how to avoid suspicion and gave me a sense of security. Even when he started working, his assistants and secretaries were all male.
He also put a lot of effort into proposing to me, and he made all the decorations for the proposal, wanting to give me a memorable moment in my life.
It was still fresh in my mind, and he truly made it impossible for me to forget what had happened to us before.
However, the man who had promised me was now someone else's fiancé.
I stayed in the wedding room for a long time until it was dark outside.
I got up and moved my numb legs, and the pain coming from my knees made me frown. The pain made me unsteady, and I could only barely stand up by bracing myself against the wall.
With the bright moonlight outside, I put the key to the wedding room under the coffee table in the living room.
I was reluctant, but what could I do?
I thought, "Ethan doesn't want me anymore."
I prayed at church yesterday that I would give anything if he just woke up safely.
It seemed that God heard my prayers.
