Knowing she had to escape, but with the whole world seemingly a dead end, what could she do?

Just then, a car slowly pulled up in front of her, the window rolled down to reveal Lucian’s handsome face.

Seeing him, Megan recoiled in fear. But Lucian only sneered.

“How does it feel to escape? Did you ever think about how those people might punish you?” he taunted.

Biting back her fear, Megan refused to show any more weakness or plead for mercy.

As she turned to walk away, she saw a group of people running towards her.

Her face went deathly pale, and her body shook uncontrollably with fear.

She knew Waston had a reputation for cruelty.

Just as the two sides were about to converge, Lucian finally spoke up, “Get in.”

Megan stared at him, their eyes locking for a split second. Without thinking further, she got in, as she really didn’t want to be caught by those people.

Once she was in the car and saw the distance increasing between her and her pursuers, Megan finally managed to calm her racing heart.

“What do you want from me?” she asked, knowing well that Lucian’s help would come with strings attached.

“Simple,” he replied. “I want you out of the entertainment industry, for good. Don’t get involved in anything related to it ever again.”

Megan’s pupils dilated as she let out a bitter laugh. “I’m already a D-list celebrity, why can’t you just leave me alone? How am I supposed to pay back the debts I owe to Rose if I leave the industry?”

Before she could process everything, the car stopped. A pair of strong hands clamped around her throat, cutting off her breath. She struggled desperately, her face turning a ghastly shade of pale.

Lucian’s face looked demonic, terrifying. “Did I say you could mention her? You figure out your debts on your own, or I’ll make sure you wish you were dead.”

His icy threat felt like it could strangle her at any moment, plunging Megan into deeper despair.

She thought, if leaving was what it took, then so be it. She hadn’t fulfilled her mother’s wishes anyway. Tears of despair trickled from the corners of her eyes.

“Okay,” she whispered.

“Sorry, Ms. Campbell, without qualifications, we can’t make an exception for you. Please look elsewhere.”

“We’ve already filled the positions…”

“You don’t meet our requirements…”

Megan walked the streets, head hung low as if the whole world had abandoned her.

She had been jobless for three months now.
