"Who are you? What's your purpose in making this call!?"
"Nyla, haven't you noticed? Your husband has always wanted to kill you."
I took a deep breath, trying my best to stay calm. "My husband and I are very much in love. There's no need for you to try to drive a wedge between us."
The woman on the other end of the line laughed maniacally. "Why don't you go see what your husband is really up to?"
After saying this, she hung up the phone.
I tried calling back, but the phone was turned off.
I muttered something about her being crazy, but I couldn't resist the urge to see what Charlie was doing outside.
I gently opened the door a crack and saw him making milk for me.
After pouring the milk powder into the cup, he pulled out a box of pills from his pocket!
I watched as my husband poured the pills into the glass, stirring them until they completely dissolved. A strange smile appeared on his face.
I covered my mouth and hid in the room, trembling all over.
Charlie skillfully drugged my milk, his movements practiced and precise.
"Nyla, sleepyhead, it's time to get up."
When he opened the door, I clutched my phone tightly, shaking all over.
"What's wrong? Are you feeling unwell?" He picked up the milk and walked towards me.
I shook my head and explained that I had just received a telemarketing call and the person wouldn't stop pestering me to buy something.
"Is that all? Honey, there's no need to get angry over that. Come on, let's drink the milk."
"I'm not drinking it!" I raised my hand in disgust, knocking over the milk, and noticed that his face turned dark.
I was all too familiar with that look. Whenever we argued, his sulky face would scare me into cowering in the corner.
"Nyla, did you see something? Hear something?"
I quickly shook my head and said no, I just wasn't feeling well, and my emotions suddenly got out of control.
I felt him sigh with relief, then he suggested we go for a walk by the sea and have breakfast outside.
Once suspicion takes hold in your heart, everything around you starts to seem suspicious.
A ball suddenly hit me on the beach, and a child pushed me into the sea from behind...
"I want to go home! They're all trying to harm me; they all want to hurt me!"
Charlie held onto me tightly, saying, "Honey, calm down. They're just kids playing around; it's not aimed at you."
But I clearly saw the malice in their eyes when they looked at me.
